Situation

Organization needed experienced well-respected leader in Early Childhood Education to continue to drive their mission and retain a highly valued culture within the organization. This search needed to be completed on an accelerated timeline to help mitigate the lag time between Executive Directors.

Action

As with other impactful organizations, this process required input from many different stakeholders. In addition to the Board, we surveyed sites that define the organization to obtain insights from others as to what was important in a new leader. We also engaged the staff, both in initial discussion and throughout the interview process, to ensure they had a say in their future leader. We identified objective criteria and creative ways to rate candidates, who could effectively fulfill this role, assessing their fit over the course of three interviews PRIOR to sending them to the client. We facilitated multiple interviews with the client and facilitated consensus discussions and objective evaluations of candidates.

Impact

Provided several well-qualified candidates for the role, which allowed the client to consider the strengths and possibilities of each. Although multiple candidates could effectively succeed in this role, it became a question of what direction the organization wanted to go. The resulting hire was a candidate with the ability to help identify hidden pain points and optimize an already well-oiled machine.
